Your role at Clorox:

As the Accounting & Controls Manager, of the Clorox Gulf Operations, you will be responsible for providing strong financial leadership and insights to functional and business unit leaders to facilitate decision-making, and lead and influence the smooth financial operations and processes in the business acting as the Record-to-Report (R2R) Lead. Primarily, you will manage the monthly and quarterly accounting close processes in MENA as well as deliver all US GAAP reporting requirements and manage the tax and local regulatory requirements. Additionally, you be the Internal Control steward in the operations and will lead the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of effective internal controls within the organization.

This position reports to the MENA Finance Controller and has one direct report.

In this role, you will:

Lead and manage monthly/quarterly close process – 30%

  • Own the execution and sign-off of the monthly and quarterly close and consolidation processes US GAAP reporting. This includes ownership of all technical accounting areas, financial reporting control execution and sign-off, month/quarter-end accruals, balance sheet account review, system reconciliations (i.e., intercompany process), analytics, and internal/external financial reporting.

  • Provide on-going support to internal and external audit activities including preparation and review of audit requirements.

  • Provide guidance and support in any accounting matters and other ad hoc requests, primarily technical accounting. Be the 'center of expertise' for US GAAP, performing research, aligning with accounting policy owners on conclusions/recommendations, updating policies and analyzing emerging US GAAP pronouncements as needed.

Ensure strong internal control environment within the business unit – 30%

  • Lead the SOX program for the PMUs, acting as the key conduit between the business and both FRC & Internal Audit.

  • Lead the implementation, monitoring and maintenance of internal controls within the organization working with cross-functional teams and external consultants. Monitor and resolve identified gaps in internal controls and Clorox policies.

  • Continue to strengthen controls around record-to-report, procure-to-pay, and order-to-cash processes.

  • Monitor and resolve identified gaps in internal controls and Clorox policies.

  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures in line with corporate policies and best practices to minimize the risk of fraud or insufficient controls.

  • Review and refresh all local policies owned by Finance on an annual basis

  • Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement to drive effectiveness and efficiency with a focus on increasing automation.

Lead/manage the day-to-day transactional finance Operations – 20%

  • Manage the procure-to-pay process ensuring proper controls around vendor payments and timely payment to vendors.

  • Support the order-to-cash process for the Gulf operations working with cross-functional teams from MENA and Corporate

  • Ensure proper controls over the trade spend process including analysis of accruals and spend related to multiple distributors.

Lead and manage local tax and financial regulations – 10%

  • Handle all VAT related matters and ensure SJV VAT compliance in coordination with SJV VAT consultants.

  • Work with local regulatory and governmental agencies to meet financial and operational compliance.

Other responsibilities – 10%

  • Provide coaching, training and development to staff and facilitate the creation of an environment where all employees are engaged and inspired to excel.

  • Support HR with local payroll and employee benefits activities.

  • Support the Finance team with ad hoc analysis and projects as these arise with a ‘can do’ attitude.

What we look for:

Experience required :

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in finance and/or accounting and at least 2 years in the role of Accounting or Finance Manager.

  • Minimum of 3 years managing all aspects of a team of professionals

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP

  • Experience in SOX and implementation of internal controls

  • Global multinational FMCG experience is preferred

  • Experience in corporate tax, VAT, and tax-related compliance matters.

  • Experience in multinational business and cross-border intercompany transactions is highly desirable.

Skills and Abilities :

  • Strong planning, organizing, communication, presentation, and influencing skills are essential to succeed in this role.

  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel skills and ability to synthesize data into meaningful summaries

  • Ability to distill complex concepts and problems into simple terms and actionable tasks, particularly to cross-functionals

  • Excellent collaboration and ability to develop strong internal relationships at all organizational levels.

  • Self-starter exhibiting personal initiative and creative problem-solving.

  • Knowledge in SAP.

Education Level / Degree :

  • Bachelor's Degree, MBA desirable.

  • CPA or International Equivalent.
