The Personal Care Aide/Medication Aide assists with patient care throughout nursing areas under the direction of licensed personnel.

• Assists patient with activities of daily living (ADLs) and documents accordingly. Assists patient with feeding and/or meals as assigned and documents accordingly. Assists patient with elimination needs as is appropriate and documents accordingly.
• Administers and accurately records the administration of medications for residents as prescribed by the physician. Determines and records effectiveness of medications.
• Monitors medications to ensure adequate accountability measures are taken when medications are ordered, received into the facility, administered, and at change of shift. Stores medications in a safe and accurate manner.

Minimum Education Preferred: High school diploma

Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required Skills Certifications: Required: PCA certificate of completion, VA State Medication Aide License Required: First Aid (New hires have 30 days to obtain) Required: CPR/AED Certification
